Test run for crate

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

These are shots of a dry run of packing he crate for Montreal. All of 557 will fit. There is enough room in the crate for one more element I have been contemplating for some time. It would march the dimensions of fuel and dulse
At this point I don’t think it will be in included in the Montreal show.

it’s at the studio getting ready for shipping. in these photos it’s still on the bottom mold plate. it took five days to cool and weights 180 lbs.

Test crate

these are shots that show the crate and how the components of 557 will fit inside the crate. fuel will be protected by the tarps while it’s in the crate during shipping. already the work is starting to resonate with me.

this is an email sent to me by the company that poured fuel:

Here’s some pics showing the wax shrinkage while cooling. 1 day cooling, 2 days cooling, 5 days cooling. Wax was still liquid in the middle on day 4. Tunnel formed into the middle by day 5, then only 1 “top up” pour was necessary to bring it level to the top as it is now.

building a crate for 557. almost there. it will weigh 1200 lbs. 12’x24″x24″. there is a strong possibility that I will incorporate the crate in the exhibition.
