Friday, September 10th, 2010

My break is almost over.

Here are a few more shots of things. I have been using my phone as a camera. Not great. My primary camera is being charged. i am hoping for better shots.

I have moved things around a little after lunch. (PS: I was told of a nice place to eat just a block away and yes it is very nice).

The space is just a little shorter than the length of the longest tarp. Fine. The

Crate

Monday, September 6th, 2010

The crate arrives to Montreal. The gallery had to unload the crate. When it arrived. The crate would not fit in the elevator.
I leave on the 9th. And start on the tenth.

Here and ready to ship

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

Well
The crate for Montreal is ready to ship. I have kept the text ,ie instructions, on the crate it self at a minimum. The next step is to call the broker to confirm shipping pick up and get ahold of the gallery for pick up times. Easy as pie. I am going to find an alternative place to store the crate when it’s ready to be shipped back. I am not sure where yet, even a different city or an alternative place to Vancouver. It doesn’t make sense to store this work in my studio. Too large and heavy. Plus, now I have it all in a convenient package.

I may also change the title of the project to TOP/SIDE, or TOP/SIDE/LIFT.

Test run for crate

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

These are shots of a dry run of packing he crate for Montreal. All of 557 will fit. There is enough room in the crate for one more element I have been contemplating for some time. It would march the dimensions of fuel and dulse
At this point I don’t think it will be in included in the Montreal show.

Test crate

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

these are shots that show the crate and how the components of 557 will fit inside the crate. fuel will be protected by the tarps while it’s in the crate during shipping. already the work is starting to resonate with me.

Crate

building a crate for 557. almost there. it will weigh 1200 lbs. 12’x24″x24″. there is a strong possibility that I will incorporate the crate in the exhibition.

Bundled tarp for 557

557

i am playing around with the idea of including the shipping in the exhibition. not sure if include is the proper term. To admit the implications of shipping, the attitude of the exhibition, or just my attitude toward sculpture in all components. Not passing over details. Also this could move to something.

Any way , it is a great addition to 557.
